About Me/ Company
My name is Katy & I am in my early Forties. I have always had a love of animals, especially dogs, and I have owned Cocker Spaniels as pets. I completed a course as a Dog Behaviourist and Trainer in 2010, and in 2011 I started my Dog Walking business, I currently have a list of around 20 or so dog owners for whom I walk dogs , both as individual walks and as social groups. Through my training I have come to strongly believe that it is important for dogs to interact and learn to socialise with each other, and during my walks, which are normally an hour long, the dogs have a chance to meet other dogs, play, interact and have fun together. It is wonderful to see a dog, which for some reason has been isolated, really start to come out of its shell by playing & socialising with the other dogs.
Most importantly, it is essential for dogs to drain their energy during the day, as they really do need to fulfil the requirements of eating, resting and exercising. A dog left alone during the day will become a bored and unhappy animal, but once socialised & exercised they will be calmer and happier in your home until you return from work.
Previous Experience
I have owned a number of dogs in the past, although, due to my present commitments, not at the moment. Though I have been lucky enough in the past to own and train cocker spaniels.
I have a large dog crate in my vehicle which accommodates up to four dogs safely. Dogs are handled with great care, and are usually very calm and content in the crate which provides a safe and secure area for the dogs in which to travel. The dogs are always walked either in Large Parks, Woodland areas or in the Countryside, which allows them room to exercise freely and safely.
In wet weather the dogs are dried off and in some cases hosed down and dried before returning to their homes! Treats are given after walks too!
Qualifications & Training
I have trained as a Dog Behaviour Therapist and can help with all sorts of behaviour problems such as separation anxiety, dominance and bad habits.
During walks I can help to correct problems such as pulling on the lead, and I can give advice on this if necessary.
Relevant Info
My Company name is "Muddy Paws" and you can be assured of a personal, reliable and friendly service. I really enjoy what I do, and it has all evolved from my love of animals, especially dogs. Your canine family member will always be safe and well cared for, as the well being and happiness of your dog is my priority. I have uploaded onto this site photos of some of the dogs that I either walk regularly or that have boarded with me at my home. We always treat the dogs that come and stay with us, as part of the family, with lots of fuss and walks. A home from home........please take a look if you have the time.
Other Services
I am happy to help with any animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs as well as cats and dogs. I can look after dogs and other pets in my home while owners are on holiday or on a day care basis.
I have many years experience with caring for dogs, and also with rabbits and small animals, and have previously owned two dwarf lop rabbits which lived to a ripe old age as I have given them a lot of attention and allowed them to socialise in the family!
Any small animals I look after are kept indoors in spacious hutches and given lots of love and attention so customers have no need to worry about their beloved pets while they are away!
