About Me/ Company

My name's Katie Hume. I am an animal lover and have had pets my whole life. I grew up with my first dog Suzie and my cat Melissa from the day I was born until I was sixteen. Along with cats and dogs I have had rabbits, mice, rats and guinea pigs. I now have four dogs, a fun loving mixture of cross breeds large and small and I wouldn't change it for the world.

I love coming home to an amazing welcome and a big snuggle from them after a long day. I had worked as an engineer since I left school and my job has always required travel, long days and over night stays. Being a lifelong pet owner I know how hard it can be to balance work, play, family and all the others demands of modern life with still giving your animals all the exercise, time and love they need.

I hated leaving my babies (dogs that is!) and often had to get a dog walker or sitter to help out with keeping them company and happy when I wasn't there. After dreaming for many years about how great it would be working with animals, I have finally decided to make it a reality and Katie's K9's & friends was born.

Previous Experience

My services are available throughout the York area.

Monday to Friday I am available for regular daily bookings.
7 days week I am available for day packages and one off bookings.

Home Visits

If you are going for a family day out, you have an overnight stay with work. A romantic weekend away or you are just going to be late home, I can go to your house to keep your pet company, play fetch in the garden, let out for toilet breaks, clean up any accidents, feed and change water , give medication, close the curtains and turns lights out. this can also include walks or just some love and attention.

Other Services

Walkies

The first walk or visit is free, this gives me and your pets a chance to get to know each other. We can go for a walk all together to get an indication of how you like your companion to be walked and also listen to your commands, so your companion doesn't get confused with any different commands or routines. This also gives you a chance to see if we interact well together, a chance for you to get to know me and whether you would feel comfortable leaving your pet in my care.

Walks are 30 minutes or 1 hour long and will be planned based on individuals. After a few walks I will get a feel of where they like to walk, woodland or open spaces, who they enjoy walking with, their temperament and also their capabilities such as slower walks for older dogs. I try to vary the routes as much as possible and they will change daily if preferred.
